My Story

A Touch of Zen began after I started my personal journey with reiki. After my reiki level one class, I was so excited and quickly changed my mind about reiki being just for me. I wanted to share it with the world. I came up with a plan and started working towards that. The universe had other ideas and when the opportunity to be part of The Complete Experience wellness center, I just couldn't pass it up. I jumped in and have begun a new journey with reiki. I want to share what I learned with you and help on your healing journey!

My Approach

I was trained in the Usui method, by Laurie Rodic,  at Angelic Roots. Laurie taught us to use our intuition first and foremost in our reiki practices. That resonated with me and that is how I practice. I use sound, oils and healing crystals in my reiki sessions, as well as, the traditional hand placements.

  • How does Reiki work?
    Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan. It involves the channeling of universal energy to promote healing, relaxation, and overall well-being. Practitioners utilize the gentle laying on of hands to help balance the recipient's energy and remove any blockages that may be causing physical, emotional, or spiritual discomfort. The energy transferred during a Reiki session is believed to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and restore a sense of harmony. Clients often report feeling a deep sense of relaxation, reduced stress, and improved physical and emotional conditions after a Reiki session.
  • What should I wear to my Reiki session?
    We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your reiki session. This will allow you to fully relax and move freely during the session. We also encourage clients to remove any jewelry or accessories that may interfere with the energy flow. Our focus is to create a peaceful and calming environment for your reiki experience, and choosing comfortable, appropriate attire is an essential part of that process.
  • What are the benefits of Reiki?
    Receiving reiki offers a range of benefits, including stress reduction, relaxation, and improved overall well-being. As a holistic healing practice, reiki aims to balance the energy centers within the body, promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual harmony. This can lead to feelings of inner peace, enhanced clarity, and a strengthened immune system. Additionally, clients may experience pain relief, better sleep, and a heightened sense of self-awareness. Whether you are seeking relief from a specific ailment or simply wish to harmonize your mind, body, and spirit, reiki can support your journey towards holistic wellness.
  • How often can Reiki be done?
    At A Touch Of Zen, we recommend scheduling Reiki sessions based on your individual needs and goals. Some clients find benefit in scheduling weekly sessions to maintain balance and support their overall well-being, while others may prefer monthly or even bi-monthly sessions to address specific concerns or maintain their energetic health. It's important to listen to your body and intuition when deciding how often to receive Reiki, and our practitioners are happy to work with you to create a customized schedule that meets your unique needs. Additionally, we offer tools and techniques that can be used at home to supplement your Reiki sessions, further supporting your well-being between appointments.
  • What kind of aftercare is required after a Reiki session?
    After a Reiki session, it is important to prioritize self-care and mindfulness. We recommend drinking plenty of water to aid in the energetic healing process and to help flush out any toxins that may have been released during the session. It is also beneficial to engage in activities that promote relaxation and stress reduction, such as meditation, gentle yoga, or spending time in nature. We encourage our clients to be gentle with themselves and to listen to their body's needs in the days following a Reiki session. Additionally, we offer follow-up appointments and are always available to answer any questions or provide additional support as needed.
  • What is Reiki?

  • What can I expect during a Reiki session?
    During a Reiki session at A Touch Of Zen, you can expect to experience a deeply relaxing and calming atmosphere. You will be guided through the session, beginning with a brief consultation to understand your specific needs and intentions for the energy work. You will then be asked to lie down fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table, where the practitioner will use gentle touch or hold their hands slightly above your body in various positions to channel healing energy. During the session, you may experience sensations of warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation. We use sound during our sessions as well. This includes singing bowls, tuning forks, drums, chimes and more. We also use oils and crystals during the session. Each session is unique to the individual, and our practitioners will work intuitively to address any tension or imbalance in your energy field. After the session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your experience with the practitioner and receive any guidance or insights that may have come up during the session. We aim to create a safe and supportive space for your healing journey.
